Inspiring Ideas

Here are some of the major inspirations for our wedding day (check out Sara's Pinterest board for more of our ideas).

Let the planning continue!  Please think upwardly for our hearts to be totally focused on the Father and His perfect plan.  We're still not sure where we will be living and working, but we're trusting Him to let us know eventually.  Pray that He would prepare our hearts for whatever adventures are in store for after March 15th!

Less than 100 Days!

97 days to go, if we're being exact.

We can't believe how fast time has gone by!  A little over 3 months remain until we become husband and wife.  Since that time is fast approaching, we would like to ask you to join us in upward thought:

• Remain focused on the Father and glorifying Him in this planning process and in our future marriage
• Bring our families closer together by keeping good communication and allowing everyone to feel included in the planning time
• Remain pure in our thoughts and actions-- flee temptation and save our bodies and emotions for marriage
• Finish reading those books that Trace suggested… The Meaning of Marriage, especially!
• Decide on the last few decisions for the wedding
• Become more diligent in upward thought for our future and His plan, especially since we have not received an answer as to whether or not we will take a certain job that will require us moving from Auburn
• Give our family peace and assurance that His plan is best
• Help us be Kingdom-minded in our engagement and future marriage-- point others to Him with our life together

The Band

We haven't mentioned our band, yet!  The Fountain City Players will keep the dance floor hot with their music for everyone, young and old.  They have a Motown style, but they mix in some oldies and current songs to keep everyone on their feet.  We're super excited to dance the night away on March 15th!

Here is another engagement photo from our shoot with Open Eye Photography.  We tried to used paintball guns, and they ended up not working, but squirting paintballs at each other was just as much fun!  Jesse's intense face is perfect… maybe I can learn from him eventually.

Counting Down: 4 Months and 4 Days!

Can't believe we have a little over 4 months until we say "I do!"

Our Save-The-Dates went out, and we are working on little details (like the actual invitations) and big plans (where we will live…) to prepare for the wedding, but most importantly for REAL LIFE.  We're trying to focus our hearts on what really matters, which is our Father and His unfathomable love for us.

Hopefully this wedding and our marriage will be a little picture of His forgiveness and sacrifice so that we could spend our lives honoring Him.  Please join us in upward thought for everyone who is coming to our wedding, visit our website/blog, or those who just keep in touch with us throughout the upcoming adventure of marriage.  Pray that the Father would get all of the credit and glory so that people are drawn to Him through our life together.

Planning Time

We have been gradually making plans for our big day, which is exciting!  So far, we have chosen a location, preacher, caterer, wedding planner, bridesmaid dress color, and rehearsal dinner location.  AND I have my wedding dress!

Only 8 months and 3 weeks until we're husband and wife!!!

Our ceremony will be in the field of my grandparents' farm in Montgomery, AL

We will have our reception in the yard near the main house at my grandparents' farm

The rehearsal dinner will be on the Alley Station rooftop terrace in downtown Montgomery

I asked officially asked my bridesmaids to be in the wedding!  I made boxes for each girl with special treats inside and a description of their role on our special day.  They'll be wearing a mint dress of their choice with tan, light brown, or nude sandals or wedges.

Counting Down!

And the countdown continues!!!

It's crazy to think that we will be married in less than a year.  There is a lot to be done and tons of decisions to be made, but the Father has it all under control (thank goodness).  We are trusting in Him to take care of everything, whether that means finding a caterer, getting a photographer, choosing the flowers, and even down to where in the world we'll be living/working next year!  It's hard not knowing exactly what His plan for our lives is, but we do know this:  we will be spending the rest of our time on earth glorifying Him and pointing others to Him.  Isn't that enough for us to know right now?  We don't need to worry about jobs or housing because He will provide like He always does, which is way more than we deserve!

Feel free to join us in upward thought over the next few weeks:

• Ask Him to give Jesse wisdom as he decides on his internship to Disney (and ask that Disney hurry up and give Jesse an answer as to whether he got the internship for the fall or not)
• That Sara finishes her last week of lab teaching strong… ask for opportunities to talk with her students about the Good News (the kids have to bring it up first, though)
• For Sara and Jesse's families as they help plan the wedding-- ask for unity, patience, non-awkwardness, and forgiveness where needed
• Think upwardly over Sara and Jesse's individual spiritual lives.  Ask that He teaches them how to love others more like the Father loves us.  Also-- that Sara and Jesse both grow closer to their Father everyday!
